David Beckham has made a fair few celebrity fans during his time in Los Angeles.

But teen pin-up Vanessa Hudgens appeared to be competing for the title of Beck's number one fan as she looked completely starstruck upon meeting the soccer idol.

High School Musical star Vanessa made a beeline for the handsome football star, and beamed broadly as she chatted to Becks, while boyfriend Zac Efron, 21, stood by her side.

She told TV show Hollywood Extra: 'I love Victoria Beckham I think she’s amazing. She always looks so stylish. I love people who like taking chances with fashion.'
Becks was seen pressing the flesh with a number of Hollywood's sons and daughters, including film director Spike Lee, and he seemed to be particularly buddyish with former Friends's star Courteney Cox's husband of nine years Arquette.

The footballer and the actor had an animated conversation as they sat courtside to watch the New York Knicks play the Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA basketball game at Los Angeles Staples Centre.
Arquette and Beckham have become courtside pals since David began attending his home teams games on a regular basis. But they have not been seen socialising together with their A-list wives as yet.

The former England captain arrived in Hollywood as the friend of the Cruises and Will Smith, and now he seems to be expanding his list if A-list friends.
He was also seen chatting with director Spike Lee at the game which was also attended by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson.

He's better known as the star of Disney's phenomenally successful High School Musical franchise.

But Zac Efron clearly wants to be thought of as a promising mature actor instead of a squeaky clean heart-throb.

So he's taken a path trodden by many young actors before him and posed in a raunchy magazine spread.

The 21-year-old, who is in a relationship with his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, admits he chose to do the shoot because of a desire to play with his clean cut image.
'It was definitely different from anything I had ever done before,' he told the publication

Zac is acutely aware of his appeal and is determined to branch out no matter how long it takes.

'Most of the directors I'd want to work with don't even know who I am,' he said. 'Their daughters might.'
Being one of Hollywood's hottest properties means Zac is now followed everywhere he goes by the paparazzi.
But he's slowly working out how to evade celebrity photographers

He said: 'It's pretty weird. I'm definitely making leaps and strides in figuring out how to keep my head down, and that's completely liberating.

'You know, it's legal to take pictures, but it's also legal to hide.'

He may have stolen the hearts and minds of millions of teenagers worldwide, but clearly young heartthrob Zac Efron has made less of an impression on Britain's celebrities.
The 21-year-old was mobbed by screaming girls in London as he attended the premiere of his latest film.
But the celebrity headcount was far from impressive, as the premiere attracted the likes of soap star Roxanne Pallett and glamour model Danielle Lloyd and unknown High School Musical actress Jemma McKenzie-Brown.

However, hordes of fans - some with their faces painted with lovehearts and the word Zac -made up for the lack of A-listers, some skipped school to queue in Leicester Square from 7am in order to catch a glimpse of the American actor.
By the time he arrived for the premiere of 17 Again, there were hundreds of excited girls, all pushing to get to the front.

Standing on chairs and benches, they screamed his name as the floppy-haired 21-year-old walked over to sign autographs.

Zac found fame when he won the part of Troy Bolton in the made-for-TV Disney movie High School Musical.

The film quickly won legions of fans, and spawned two big budget follow-ups, making its stars heart-throbs for the teenage generation.
17 Again features Zac as the younger version of Friends actor Matthew Perry, who plays a father whose life hasn't gone to plan but gets a second chance when he wakes up in Zac's body.

Zac, however, appears anxious to make a name for himself as a serious actor. He recently turned down the lead part in a remake of the film Footloose.

A source said: 'Zac wants to be in the business a long time — doing more musicals isn’t good for him long-term.'

What would you do if you got a second shot at life? Class of 1989, Mike O’Donnell is a star on his high school basketball court with a college scout in the stands and a bright future in his grasp.



But instead, he decides to throw it all away to share his life with his girlfriend Scarlett and the baby he just learned they are expecting. Almost 20 years later, Mike’s glory days are decidedly behind him. His marriage to Scarlett has fallen apart, he has been passed over for a promotion at work, his teenage kids think he is a loser, and he has been reduced to crashing with his high school nerd-turned-techno-billionaire best friend Ned. But Mike is given another chance when he is miraculously transformed back to the age of 17.



Unfortunately, Mike may look 17 again, but his thirtysomething outlook is totally uncool in the class of 2009. And in trying to recapture his best years, Mike could lose the best things that ever happened to him.

Zac Efron Aspires to be Like Hugh Jackman

With Zac Efron in Australia this week for the premiere of his new movie, 17 Again, News.com.au ran a few quotes from Zac about performing onstage with Aussie Hugh Jackman at the Academy Awards last month.

About Hugh, Zac said, “I aspire to be where he’s at some day - to have that drive. It gives me hope a little bit.” When asked if he’d like to be in a movie with him, he replied, “Man I wish, can somebody write that? That could be a musical too. He could pull it off.”

Zac also talked about what it was like to share the stage with one of his mentors: “When I heard I was going to be on stage with Hugh, I was shocked. I was like, ‘I can’t keep up with that guy.’ Not only is he a better singer and dancer, he’s six foot three, or four. He’s the tallest guy that I’ve ever seen be that coordinated.”

Zac also denies the engagement rumor between him and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, which was started late last month by the National Enquirer.

LOS ANGELES "17 Again" is one of those movies that requires you to suspend all disbelief and assume that someone who looks like Zac Efron could, in 20 years, turn into someone who looks like Matthew Perry.

(Those must have been some rough years - either that or Rob Lowe wasn't available.)



Can't do it, you say? Well, that detail is just about as implausible as the film's premise itself: Mike O'Donnell (Perry), a miserable father of two on the brink of divorce, gets a chance to relive his high school days and improve his future by becoming 17 in the present day, all thanks to the magical powers of a mystical janitor (Brian Doyle-Murray).



It's always some odd figure on the fringe who brings about this kind of fantastic transformation, isn't it? This guy literally says to Mike: "I bet you wish you had it to do all over again."



Well yes, there are a lot of elements in "17 Again" that feel awfully familiar. Director Burr Steers, a long way from his darkly comic, coming-of-age debut "Igby Goes Down," takes you places you've been before - many times - in more charming movies like "Big," "13 Going on 30," "Freaky Friday," "Never Been Kissed" and even "Back to the Future." The idea of going back to high school is so overdone, there was even an entire episode of "Family Guy" that parodied it. (Jason Filardi is credited with writing "17 Again.")




But rather than changing his decision to abandon his dreams of basketball stardom and marry the girlfriend he knocked up, Mike realizes his true purpose is to reconnect with his wife, Scarlet (played as an adult by Leslie Mann), and teenage kids Maggie and Alex (Michelle Trachtenberg and Sterling Knight). The result is facile and feel-good, not engaging or insightful.



Efron maintains the dreamy presence that made the tweens scream in the "High School Musical" series - those eyes! those cheekbones! - which is on full display when Mike-as-adult-as-kid gets a makeover from the K-Fed get-up he initially dons in a feeble attempt at fitting in. He steps out of a Porsche, purchased by his nerdy childhood best friend Ned (Thomas Lennon of "Reno 911!") who grew up to make it big as a computer geek, and with his aviator sunglasses and devil-may-care shag haircut, he looks like ... well, he looks like Zac Efron. At least Steers knows how to capitalize on his star's strongest attributes.



Efron also enjoys a couple of amusing scenes here as a grown-up delivering uptight diatribes in a boy's body, and he connects with Mann in a way that surprisingly isn't all that creepy. But he still seems too pretty and lightweight to be a persuasive leading man capable of carrying a film. It'll happen, though. There's time.



It certainly doesn't help his cause that he's been given such a cliched depiction of high school life in which to function. The jocks (the leader of whom is conveniently dating Mike's daughter), the nerds, the awkward cafeteria moments and an out-of-control house party - they're all there, with nothing new to give them fresh life.

It makes the singing-and-dancing hijinks of the East High Wildcats look downright subversive by comparison.



"17 Again," a Warner Bros. Pictures release, is rated PG-13 for language, some sexual material and teen partying. Running time: 98 minutes. Two stars out of four.

Popular high school senior Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) seemingly has it all. He is a star athlete headed straight for a college scholarship when he decides to give it up to settle down with his high school girlfriend Scarlet is pregnant.



Twenty years later, an adult Mike (played by Matthew Perry) finds his life is not exactly what he expected. He is separated from his wife, Scarlett (Leslie Mann) and living with his wealthy software genius nerd and best friend Ned Freedman (Thomas Lennon), his career at a pharmaceutical company is at a stand still, and his relationships with his teenage children are nonexistent. After getting passed up for yet another promotion at work, he returns to his high school to reminisce over his basketball awards and the life he could have had. While he is reliving his glory days, he is approached by a janitor and shares with him how things were so much better when he was 17.



As Mike is driving home from the high school, he sees the mysterious janitor standing on the ledge preparing to jump into the Los Angeles River. Mike rushes out of his car to rescue him, but when he gets there, the janitor has vanished. What Mike doesn't realize is that he is about to fall into the river and turn into his 17 year old self.



Young Mike (Zac Efron) returns to Ned's house, where he has the difficult task of convincing Ned that he is in fact Mike. At a loss of what to do, Ned pretends to be Mike's father and they register Mike back in high school to finish the life he never had the chance to live.



High school presents a lot of new challenges for Mike, such as dressing cool, keeping up with the latest gadgets and making new friends. But nothing compares to being in high school with his own children. He discovers that his daughter, Maggie (Michelle Trachtenberg), is not nearly as innocent as he thought she was and his son, Alex (Sterling Knight), is the brunt of the star athlete's jokes.



But Mike's most difficult realization is that he hasn't been a very good father or husband. Mike befriends Alex and tries to instill him with enough confidence to join the basketball team. He gets close to Maggie's obnoxious boyfriend and does everything in his power to break them up. Most importantly, he visits an unsuspecting Scarlet and rediscovers all the things that initially made him fall in love with her. You don't know what you have until you lose it.



Through his experiences, Mike realizes that he had chosen the perfect life he just never appreciated it. Now, he must figure out a way to transform back into his older self and win back his wife and kids.
